The National Flute Association is “the largest flute organization in the world” according to their website. Thousands of flutists from countries all over the world belong. If you are a dedicated flute student, you might want to consider joining. Their annual conventions are the best place I know to be able to look at a wide range of printed music before you buy it, try out new flutes and different head joints, and hear world-renowned flutists all in one place. It is an incredible experience!
At the time of this writing, student membership fees are $50 per year or only $40 per year for an e-membership. (The only difference besides the $10 is that The Flutist Quarterly, which is the NFA’s magazine, is available for download rather than having it mailed to you.) There is also a 50% discount offered to groups of 10 or more students joining at the same time.
